In class we were asked to pick out one photograph that I took that I like and a photography that influenced me. I chose the photograph below because this was the first time I stepped out of my comfort zone and be able to take photos of people directly. I've always love street photography and documentary photography, I like to show things as they are and how it tells a story. I thought that I did a really good job with this series and I am really proud of it.
Two photographers that have influenced me are Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Capa. In my high school photo class we had to do biography project on a photographer and my art teacher recommended Bresson to me. Ever since then, I've always kept his style in mind when I am photographing. His idea of the the decisive moment, capturing thing at the right second have always stuck by me.
Robert Capa is the photographer that made me want to be a war photographer. Aside my interest in journalism, I just admire Capa's courage to step out from the boat during the landing of Normandy. Maybe I have a death wish or something, but I just find it exciting to be able to do that.
